Miles Hinton-Clifton | Managing Director
Miles is the son of Tim and Suzie, owners and founders of both Clinic 36 and Hairtopia Ltd. AT the age of 28 Miles hasn’t always been with the company. With a love for the countryside from a very young age Miles at the age of 16 finished school and decided to go on to Agricultural collage, spending two years completing a degree level qualification in Agriculture with land and farm management. From this Miles furthered his rural career gaining employment with a family who owned and run a large country estate in Yorkshire. Having worked for two years on the estate farm Miles became Farm manager, managing one of the largest Pedigree limason cow herds in the north east, along with 830 breeding sheep and lambs, and over three thousand acres of arable land Miles carried on this managerial role for over ten years.
But in 2013 Miles with a young family in toe, decided that the time was right to diversify into a complete career change, having grown up around hairdressing, wigs and hairpieces all of his life Miles was not without knowledge, and since joining us has grown and expanded on this, and with help and guidance from both Senior members of staff and younger ones Miles has now added to all that he already knew and is now highly informed and capable of providing a competent and professional service, weather its information about wigs their styles and colours, to hair pieces hair accessories , fitting and all after care.
To say the least, a career change of this magnitude was always going to be a challenge but taking it all in his stride Miles has already proven to be a great asset for the company.
Miles’s main duty as Manager of Hairtopia Ltd is the day to day running of the business both in store and online both of which are growing and expanding on a daily basis, with a massive stock to control which is constantly changing both within Hairtopia Ltd and the hospitals we provide to, this can prove at times a challenge which Miles deals with head on, with online orders in store consultations, wigs and hair pieces galore its all dealt with in a highly organised well maintained fashion.
Anita Hardisty | Senior Hairstylist and Wig Consultant
I started my hairdressing career nearly 14 years ago as a student at Darlington College.
As a Yorkshire girl I worked in a small salon in the dales to gain experience. As my passion for hairdressing grew so did my ambitions which is when I decided to come to Darlington 6 years ago.
A lot has changed for me in this time and new challenges have come my way.
I started working Clinic 36 / Hairtopia in August 2015. In this time I got married in May, gained a new family and friends. I thoroughly enjoy working here and working with the challenges that occur with Dermatology and Cancer patients. Knowing that I help people leave with new confidence about themselves is very rewarding and shows in all the thank you cards and gifts I receive.
Sammy Collinson | Senior Hairstylist and Wig Consultant
I have been working at Clinic 36 / Hairtopia since May 2012. Starting my role here as a junior, undergoing my hairdressing apprenticeship. I have now worked my way up the ranks now becoming the manageress. I absolutely love my job meeting new people everyday and changing people lives.
As you may know, we are not just your ordinary hairdressers. Specialising in lots of different areas of hairdressing from children to OAP’s. On the other side of the business we have Hairtopia, everyday helping customers with hair loss from Dermatology to Chemotherapy patients. Having the opportunity to help clients in any way we can, getting cards and messages to thank us all for our help is really satisfying.
Working here at Clinic 36 / Hairtopia gives us something different everyday. Never knowing what’s next, I thoroughly enjoy my job and love helping others.
Oli Patterson | Hairdresser
Hi my name is Oli, I am 21 years old and I am from Darlington. I have been working for Clinic 36 since 2015 and I’m really enjoying it. I started Clinic 36 coming from a quieter salon which didn’t do my initial training any good. I feel that I have learnt a lot from every stylist here and it has made me a much better hairdresser. I attended my training at Darlington College for over a year. The salon which I was initially working at closed down. I luckily walked into Clinic 36 where I was able to finish my hairdressing qualification. I love being part of the team as we all get along so well and work together. This will be my 3rd salon Job, after starting at Saks back in 2014 it has quite a journey throughout my career so far. At the age of only 21 I still need to learn a lot, but working here with everyone I feel that I can only get better.
The great thing about Clinic 36 is that we have a huge variety of hairdressing; we do ladies, gents and also wigs, which is great seeing a patient who isn’t having a great time in their lives at the moment, leaving with a smile due to our excellent services. Another reason I love my job so much is that I love chatting to people, the client base we have at Clinic 36 is great as we have lots of regulars which we get to know and become friends with.
Since qualifying I have my own column, which I run on a Tuesday and Wednesday. This will help me gain the experience and build up my own clientele. I have recently completed a simply Saks cutting course which I attended for a week, I learnt a lot of different cutting techniques which will help me on my career progression. I have now recently taken on Barber roles in the salon, which I find really good and interesting.
As well as working in hairdressing, I also am a professional singer, I have been singing in pubs, clubs and different venues since I was 16. The largest venue I have played was the Blackpool Opera House, where I sang to over 4,000 people. I also write my own music which is available on various internet platforms. I am looking forward to releasing my debut album ‘Patience’ very soon.
Laura Morton | Hairdresser
My name is Laura, I am 21 years old and have been hairdressing for the past 5 years, I started my training as soon as I left school, but had been experimenting on my own hair families hair from the age of 13! I served my apprenticeships in a salon in South Shields where I was living at the time and attended south tyneside college.
I then moved to Durham and began working at Clinic 36 just after Christmas. This is where I was trained up by Tim and the other girls to fit wigs. I visit the hospitals twice a week and absolutely love it!. It has been fantastic opportunity for me to be able to help people who are going through a hard time, or due to this and due to how well we all work together, there is never a dull moment at Clinic 36 and the rapport with regular clients is fantastic! I hope to spend many more years in this fantastic salon!
